Nuno was an early walker and likes to think of himself as a walker of the path less traveled.
During the school years he walked in his mind, and after graduating his Public Relations and Publicity degree, 1 start-up and 2 internships where enough to confirm that PR was not his way.
This led to a shift on his focus and to create a dog hotel, which in 1996 Portugal was barely a step from certified madness. Besides a crash course on starting a business this encouraged him to study animal behaviour, and in particular to understand why perfectly intelligent and reasonable owners seemed unable to deal adequately with their dogs, and to try to help them to improve. As the business evolved the need to mentor his team grew accordingly.
A few years later came a new crossroad - a challenge to run an environmental NGO that strived to reconcile the economic interests of landowners in the Alentejo region with the social and environmental impact they create. This was a way of learning with the stakeholders in the terrain and the scholars, again trying to mediate changes of behaviour, all while managing the diverse and eclectic NGO’s team and doing a restructuring.
Feeling the urge to keep learning, he enrolled an Advanced Management Program for Executives at Universidade Católica de Lisboa, focusing especially on leadership and people management and motivation.
In 2015, disgruntled by the lack of real options from the Portuguese political spectrum, Nuno decided to help start a new political party, which he did with a handful of other lone walkers. He coordinated the Founding Committee, was the President of the Founding Convention and the first president of the National Counsel. The party elected it’s first MP in 2020
Throughout his way Nuno is also involved in managing forestry, agriculture and real estate businesses, but his guiding star is ever more clearly to have a positive impact on the lives of the people he meets along the way, and by this path live a meaningful and fulfilling life.
